“Paolo has always been a gifted, swinging, sensitive drummer and all around musician. He also possesses a brilliant mind and he is a great teacher.”

– John Patitucci

about me

As a drummer, I’ve accumulated over two decades of experience, collaborating with renowned musicians, playing in stages at European and international festivals, and contributing to various recordings.

I’ve taught drums and music at institutions of higher learning in the US, the Middle-East, and Switzerland. My knowledge expands beyond the classroom, as I’ve led seminars and clinics, with my insights published in respected magazines.

Currently, I focus my professional career on performing, touring, recording as a sideman and co-leading two own musical projects.

I also run my online teaching program and my studio, located in the peaceful countryside of France, just outside of the Swiss border with Geneva.

“You will never get bored with this range of compositions full of verve and energy,
especially as each of the musicians is technically well versed on his instrument.”

Concerto Magazine, issue February 1st 2024 – ****

Slovenian pianist Gregor Ftičar and Italian drummer Paolo Orlandi formed a jazz piano trio in Geneva. Joined by Hungarian bassist Matyas Szandai, they performed across Europe, captivating audiences with their original music and jazz standards arrangements.

Tragedy struck in 2023 with Szandai’s passing. Ftičar and Orlandi dedicated their debut album, recorded in 2022, to their friend and fellow musician, honouring his passion for jazz.

The trio currently features Stephan “Pišta” Bartus on bass.
